A mTBI/concussion occurs when an individual experiences a blow their head or body that cause the brain to shake violently in the skull that cause a variety of physical, cognitive, emotional and sleep related symptoms that are measured by a patient's self-report, changes in cranial nerve functioning, subtle abnormalities in ocular-motor functioning and balance functioning and a change cognitive functioning. These symptoms and changes in functioning can last days, weeks, and months long depending on the patient's age, previous concussions, and medical complications.
